ICS 300 Participants

ICS-300 participants interact in a simulation exercise

The Gulf Team, NWS Southern Region, and the Disaster Response Center gathered representatives of Weather Forecast Offices and the Office of Response and Restoration to share their capabilities and needs in emergency response situations, and to build upon the connections that would be valuable in such situations. This was followed by Incident Command System (ICS-300) training for representatives of different Line Offices active in the Gulf region.  ICS is a standardized system to allow unified, effective emergency response across federal agencies.  Participants received a version of ICS-300 training including classroom time and simulation exercises that was developed by the NOAA Disaster Response Center (DRC) specifically to reflect NOAA’s response roles.  Training participants felt more confident in their role in a response situation, and appreciated the opportunity to build connections with staff in other NOAA offices.
