Gulf Team members Tom Johnstone, Jeff Cupo, and Grace Gray joined in the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network (TCOON) stakeholder meeting with other federal, state, and academic partners.  Several conversations at this and coincident meetings focused on the importance of salinity measurement to navigation and ecosystem function in relation to freshwater inflows to bays and to the ocean.  Discussions led to follow-up on how information about weather, oceanographic conditions, and living systems can better support each other to advance navigation, fishing, and conservation priorities.  The importance of salinity data in particular was a theme through several conversations, as it relates to economic and ecosystem health.
