Congressional Roundtable focuses on Climate Resilience in South FloridaOn 18 May 2016 SECART hosted its first regional Congressional Roundtable focusing on “Climate Resilience in South Florida”. Six congressional offices participated, including the offices of Congressional Roundtable focuses on Climate Resilience in South FloridaSenators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio and Representatives Curbelo (FL-26), Frankel (FL-22), Wilson (FL-24), and Wasserman Shultz (FL-23). NOAA staff described the science of sea level rise and the observing systems, data and tools available to assist coastal managers.  Staff from Miami Dade County and the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Beach discussed their efforts to enhance coastal resiliency and shared how they benefit from NOAA science, data, and training. In addition, NOAA scientists described research efforts to understand coral reproduction and resilience, supported by university and community partners who leverage NOAA insights to improve large-scale coral restoration efforts in the Florida Keys.  The full agenda may be accessed here.
