Proposed River Diversion Projects, Socioeconomic Analysis, and Adaptive Management Plan Development
The Gulf of Mexico Team partnered with Louisiana Sea Grant and the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) on an October 2015 working meeting about proposed river diversion project socioeconomic analysis and adaptive management plan development. The meeting addressed how to consider socioeconomics in river diversion project implementation, how to build a science-based adaptive management framework to guide decision-making, and the connection between socioeconomics and adaptive management for proposed river diversions. Attendees included relevant partners from academic and research institutions, Louisiana state agencies, and federal agencies, representing expertise in ecosystem, river diversion, hydrodynamic, social, economic, legal, and other topical areas. Discussions will continue at upcoming meetings in Louisiana.
